Active Broadband Networks Launches an all Software Engine with Active Resource Controller
FRAMINGHAM, MA: Active Broadband Networks, a provider of Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) for broadband service providers has launched ‘The Active Programmable Gateway’ (APG) – an all software engine and a platform that consists of the Active Resource Controller (ARC).
The ARC is an SDN controller optimized for broadband service delivery with integrated orchestration, activation, analytics, policy and QoE management.
The APG shifts broadband edge processing functions off the edge routers into software, eliminating the need for complex, expensive and inflexible ones. The engine helps the broadband operators to directly connect customers to their cloud. Its Virtual Network Function, APG-VNF enables edge admission, forwarding and QoS functionality to be deployed as virtual machines in an operator's cloud.
Besides this, the operators can connect clients of the edge connectivity to network, compute, storage and application services within their cloud without the cost and complexity of legacy edge routers. The APG-VNF enables physical and logical connectivity integrating Linux virtualization and containers to offer flexible customer and infrastructure capabilities. It also supports popular fixed broadband termination and access mechanisms developed and managed by the ARC.
