Qualcomm Brings Forth Wi-Fi System on Chip for Network Efficiency
SAN DIEGO, CA: Qualcomm introduces a fully integrated System on Chip (SoC)- an integrated circuit that integrates all components of an electronic system into a single chip, implementing its next generation Internet Processor (IPQ), VIVE with MU EFX MU-MIMO technology and Qualcomm StreamBoost to support dual band simultaneous transmission and LTE backhaul.
Qualcomm’s IPQ40x8/x9 incorporates IPQ that supports the expanding network of devices, systems, apps at the same time adjusting power for different conditions reducing the total amount of power used. It also implements Qualcomm’s VIVE, which allows Wi-Fi to work efficiently with Qualcomm’s MU MIMO that changes the way Wi-Fi serving many devices works offering multi gigabit speeds.
IPQ40x8/x9 uses the MU-MIMO Wi-Fi solution to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to bring 11ac benefits to mainstream segments. With the integration of two 2x2 radios capable of up to 1.73 Gbps, a quadcore ARM CPU and a Gigabit Ethernet switch on the same silicon chip, IPQ40x8/x9 can configure its radios for traditional 2.4 GHz and 5GHz dual band simultaneous operation or range extender operation.
Several applications and services like enterprises access points, hotspots, carrier LTE gateways and range extenders can be based on IPQ40x8/x9 SoC with cost effective and network efficient performance. These applications or services are ideal for Internet of Everything hubsm Wi-Fi backhaul equipment and LTE gateways as they can be easily configured with USB3.0, PCle, SD/eMMC, Ethernet and LTE interfaces.
